About the LJC Unconference

The London Java Community (LJC) hosts an ‘unconference’ every year that allows developers to come together for a full day of creativity, discussions, sharing experiences, learning and spending time with peers in the industry. It’s also great for offering support and building relationships. During the pandemic, the Unconference moved online, and in 2022 we were delighted to return to in-person. This year sees the 17th Unconference that RecWorks have hosted! It is most certainly the premier event of our user group and will leave you feeling more inspired about Java. We can’t wait to see you all there!

What is an Unconference?

An Unconference is a loosely structured, participant-driven meeting. There is no agenda full of presentations - all participants decide what to talk about and which topics to discuss collaboratively, giving you and your ideas the room to run and grow freely.

How will the day work?

Although there is no set agenda, we will have a loose schedule to make sure we make the most of your time. The event will begin with an informal breakfast and some time to allow you to meet other attendees. During this time, we will ask you to submit any topic ideas that you are keen to speak on or hear about. Delegates will then move through to the main room for a short keynote presentation, during which topics will be collated and grouped to identify the subjects which people are keen to cover. Topics will be allocated a room and delegates can then choose which one to attend from a display in a central area. Sessions last for 40 minutes and we’ll stop for lunch and an afternoon tea break.
